Highlights on Social events during ESPRM 2018 Congress in Vilnius

April 30 – special performance of Eric Dargent

Eric Dargent (surfer from France, who was attacked by a shark some years ago and his left leg had to be amputated), winner of world’s adaptive surfing championship, paddle on the paddle board on the main river of Vilnius, Neris. The athlete shows possibilities of modern prosthesis and encourage other disabled people to achieve their dreams.

The show attracted huge attention of Lithuania media (reportages in all main TV channels, photos and messages in newspapers).

May 1 - Olympic mile run of 21st European Congress of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine

Special professional running (walk for senior’s clubs) event (photo finish and ect.) for the ESPRM delegates, quests and specialists of rehabilitation, Vilnius inhabitants (adults and children) with more than 120 registered participants.

May 2 - Opening ceremony and Networking reception

Welcome messages by the Presidents: of ESPRM (A. Delarque), EARM (X. Michail), UEMS PRM Section (N. Christodoulou) and Board (M. G. Ceravolo), ISPRM (J. Lains), LOC (A. Juocevicius), chief editors of PRM journals (W. Frontera, H. Stam), members of ESPRM board and Organizing Committee, Adviser of the Prime Minister of Lithuanian Republic Paulius Gradeckas

Opening ceremony was accompanied by special music performance of FORTVIO.

May 3 - Presidents dinner

The Presidents’ Dinner took place in the at the historical Vilnius Town Hall, with the 120 invited guests (presidents of all European and National PRM organizations, members of ESPRM board and Organizing Committee, representatives of local state institutions, delegates and quests of ESPRM).

The event was congratulated by the mayor of Vilnius Remigijus Šimašius. For long lasting and hard work in the field Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine the tributes were paid to Xanthi Michail, Pedro Cantista and Georges De Korvin by Guy Vanderstraeten, Mauro Zampolini and Alain Delarque.

Dinner was accompanied by exclusive entertainment program (Judita Leitaitė and the band of Tomas Leiburas, soloist Vita Rusaityte, show of children of Panevezys foster home, presentation of Lithuanian folk culture and meal).

May 4 - Gala dinner

Gala dinner took place in National Gallery of Art, modern multifunctional center of art and culture. This special evening with the 250 quests (presidents of all European and National PRM organizations, representatives of local state institutions, delegates and quests of ESPRM) was accompanied by great mood, nice surprises and awards, songs and dances of folk group Ratilio.

May 3-4. Lunch time was accompanied by entertainment program of 8 young musicians from M. K. Ciurlionis art gymansium.

May 5 - Evening. Join performance of French and Lithuania musicians (Judita Leitaitė and the band of Tomas Leiburas).
